I arrived in Senegal July 26
I felt wierd because my mind was still spinning from the 25th
Time went by quick
Partly because transitioning through timezones stole a couple of hours from me
and partly because for the first few days of awakening in a strange house,
I still couldn’t believe I was there
 
I woke up completely expecting to be home and woke up in a room of strangers with familiar faces
these strangers would become friends
their familiar faces would become unforgettable
this experience would be exceptional
If I could just get myself to believe I was there
 
I had a thousand thoughts pounding the inside of my head to let me know they were there
I didn’t know what to expect except for a lifetime worth of memories
and that’s exactly what I got
 
Too many to count
Some stood out more than others
Some that I’ll remember twenty years from now
and some that I can’t remember today
I just wish that I was there for one more day
because a trip like that doesn’t just happen every day
