Former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak continued detention in hospital in Sharm el-Sheikh. 83-year-old man was now refusing food and very weak.
So reported the Egyptian government newspaper, al-
Gomhuria, citing an official at the hospital.
Mubarak has been detained since April on charges of ordering the murder of anti-government protesters and corruption.
He was detained in a hospital in Sharm el-Sheikh, a Red Sea resort, where he underwent treatment for heart problems he suffered. Mubarak planned to be on trial next week for the killing of the demonstrators.
“He really abstain from food and consume only liquids and some juices,” said Mohammed Fathallah, head of the hospital in Sharm el-Sheikh as reported by AFP news
agency on Wednesday (27/07/2011).
The case of Mubarak is scheduled to be held in court on 3 August.
He will be tried along with his two sons, a former Egyptian Interior Minister Habib al-Adli and six police commanders.
Location of the hearing has not been announced. But according to the sources of justice and security, it is likely the trial will be held in Sharm el-Sheikh.
Mubarak has lived in the popular tourist resort since he was overthrown in a revolution in February.
