The Island Made Popular by The Film

Madagascar was rarely mentioned in day to day conversation. Until the film came about that is.

“Hi there…”
Perhaps made popular by one of the all time favorite cartoon films, Madagascar is actually a island nation far off from the splendorous metropolises of Europe, America and Asia. Situated near the southern end of poverty stricken Africa, Madagascar is actually part of the Indian continent. Even though two-thirds of the population live below the international poverty line of $1.25 a day, it is a country with stunning pictures not fully brought out in the film.
Limestone peaks that tower over a lake. The lake is calm enough to function as a mirror, reflecting the beautiful landscape behind. These natural sights, are however, being washed away by industrialization and pollution.
This picture from Isalo National Park of Madagascar is a truly beautiful sight to behold. The park has a variety of different landscapes, Including sandstone formations, flat grassland and canyons.

The stones at the top of the hill stand at a dangerous angle, looking ready to topple anytime. Yet, it hasn’t toppled for thousands of years. Such is the splendorous force of nature.
Madagascar is home to 5% of the world’s plants and animals, of which 80% is exclusively Madagascar. This species over here, dubbed the Lemur Catta, is a protected species and is one of the animals which make a appearance in the film.
The political and economical capital of Madagascar is one of the places not featured in the film. Antananarivo is situated at a summit at the middle of Madagascar, giving it the feel of a commanding position.

This ends my article on Madagascar. And from all the animals of Madagascar…
…Peace out!
