Beautiful Waterfalls of South Africa

Very hard not to be impressed by the amazing waterfalls located in South Africa.
South Africa has some of the most impressive, tallest and beautiful waterfalls on Planet Earth.
Lehrs Falls

Located at the Oribi Gorge in southern KwaZulu-Natal Province, South Africa is the 328 foot high Lehrs Falls where one can fly past the falls on one of the highest swings in the world. Just bring your guts and try not to deposit them at the bottom of the ride.

Augrabies Falls
Located in southwestern South Africa along the Orange River in Augrabies National Park is the 183 foot high Augrabies Falls. This a powerful waterfall especially during the rainy season. The Orange River flows through a 10 mile gorge after going over Augrabies Falls.

Berlin Falls

Located in Mpumalanga province in northeastern South Africa is the 262 foot high Berlin Falls. Along the famed Panorama Route, Berlin Falls is just north of Graskop and close to God’s Window in the Blyde River Canyon area.

Lone Creek Falls

Lone Creek Waterfall is 223 feet high along the Sabie River in Mpumalanga province in northwestern South Africa about 6 miles west of Sabie.

Doorn River Waterfalls

Located in the Northern Cape area of South Africa along the Doorn River are some beautiful waterfalls.

Howick Falls

Located along the Umengi River in KwaZulu-Natal Province in eastern South Africa is the spectacular 311 foot high Howick Falls. Called KwaNogqaza or “place of the tall one” by the Zulus, at least 40 deaths have been recorded in recent times at Howick Falls and many of them are thought to be suicides. When pioneers first traveled to the area some were swept over these falls as the area just above the falls looks like the easiest place to cross the Umengi.

Mac Mac Falls

The 213 foot high Mac Mac Falls are a national monument and named for the 1873 gold rush town of Mac Mac. Here the Mac Mac River plunges over the cliffs in double fashion creating a unique and beautiful sight. Swimming is permitted in the pools below the falls.

Tugela Falls

This delicate looking waterfall located along the Tugela River in Royal Natal National Park in KwaZulu-Natal Province of eastern South Africa is considered the second tallest waterfall in the world at 3,110 total feet. Tugela Falls has five total sections that drop over the Drakensberg Escarpment in amazing fashion.

Karkloof Falls
Located in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands area of South Africa is the 300 foot high Karkloof Waterfalls.

Lisbon Falls
Just 1.8 miles south of Berlin Falls is the amazing Lisbon Falls which drops 295 feet in a double stream along the Lisbon River.

Elands River Falls
Eland River Falls is three separate falls that tumble a total of 748 feet in Mpumalanga province between Waterval Boven and Nelspruit. The area is a national monument and is also popular with rock climbers.

Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens Waterfalls
This waterfall is located in the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens in Johannesburg and is a very popular spot for locals and tourists.

Tsitsikamma National Park
Along the Garden Route in the south-eastern coast of South Africa there are a number of waterfalls in Tsitsikamma National Park.

Truer River Waterfalls

Located along the Truer River as it falls into the Blyde River at Bourkes Luck is the Truer River Waterfalls. Just below the the falls is the beautiful and amazing naturally sculpted Bourkes Luck Potholes which are far more popular with visitors than the falls above.

It is truly amazing what there is beyond our boarder. The waterfalls are just one example, and the way you arrange your article with these photos is simple outrageously well done.
I have a friend from Africa and friends that visit, I must truly get my $$$$$$ together and get out that way some day
