Here are some of the most impressive waterfalls in continental Africa.

Africa, descriptively known as the “Dark Continent”, is the 2nd largest and 2nd most-populous continent in the world. Although large portion of the continent’s land area are arid land there are numerous waterfalls in the continent which serve as tourist attractions.

Here are some of the most impressive waterfalls in the continent.

1.) Ouzoud Waterfalls: Morocco

One of the most impressive waterfalls not only in Africa but also in the world is Ouzoud Waterfalls. This beauty created by nature is located in the Grand Atlas village Tanaghmeilt, Azilal, Morocco. These 110 meters high waterfalls is the most visited site of the region. Other superb sceneries in the area include, Green valleys, mills, orchards and a magnificent circuit of the gorges of the El Abid River.

2.) Sipi Falls: Uganda

Sipi Falls in Uganda is a series of three beautiful waterfalls on the foot of Mount Elgon which is part of Mount Elgon National Park. The main waterfall has a height of 100 meters. The area of Sipi falls is notably popular for Bugisu Arabica Coffee, one of the world’s finest coffees.

3.) Howick Falls: South Africa

Howick Falls is regarded as one of the deadliest waterfalls in the world for the scores of recorded suicides, accidents and murders in the area. This beautiful waterfall is located in Howick, KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa. This 95 meter tall waterfall lies on the river of Umgeni. Indigenous people living in the area call it KwaNogqaza – “Place of the Tall One”.

4.) Mac-Mac Falls: South Africa

Mac-Mac Falls are twin waterfalls located is South Africa. These 56 meter tall waterfalls are located on the Mac-Mac River in the province of Mpumalanga. These South Africa’s National Monuments were named after the old mining camp of Mac-Mac. Nearby the Mac-Mac Falls are naturally formed swimming pools, the Mac-Mac Pools.
