Tanzania is one of the exceptional and matchless destinations in Africa. It is gifted with numerous tourist attractions, abundant wildlife, stunning landscape and sceneries and jovial and friendly people with a tradition of hospitality. It is a land of countless wonders.

Tourism has been Tanzania’s fastest and top budding zone in the past three years. Tanzania is gifted with natural, historical and cultural resources and potential innate lure. Tanzanian depends on natural resources which embrace wild animals, forests, rivers, lakes and wetlands, parks full of wildlife; unpolluted beaches, and the rich cultures of the 120 ethnic groups.

Tanzania has a rich heritage of archaeological, historical and rock painting sites, a number of which have been chosen World Heritage Sites.

Tanzania has six World Heritage Sites. The sites in Tanzania comprise two cultural and four natural sites. These are Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Ruins of Kilwa Kisiwani and Ruins of Songo Mnara, Serengeti National Park, Selous Game Reserve, Kilimanjaro National Park, Stone Town of Zanzibar. Along the Indian Ocean are the remains of ancient settlements. To the tourist, Tanzania also offers remarkable civilization, culture and crafts, most notably the Masai culture and art and the Makonde sculptures and carving done in ebony.

Conservation and maintenance is the prime role of Tanzania’s twelve National Parks, which comprise 25% of the land area. Northern Circuit contains World class assets such as Serengeti, Lake Manyara and Tarangire National Parks and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Southern Circuit comprises the Selous Game Reserve and Ruaha National Park.

Tanzania has outstanding, world-class marine assets in Zanzibar and a number of offshore islands in competition with South Pacific, Caribbean and Indian Ocean. The Archipelago of Mafia is so far the country’s only marine park. Though the number of visitors is small here but the environment is so pure and unspoiled.

World demand is growing at a fast rate for traditional resort tourism and Tanzania has assets to appeal a large amount of niche markets. These resorts take in mountain climbing, biking, birdwatching, big-game fishing, hiking, scuba diving and a variety of adventure travel activities, e.g., river rafting, canoeing, abseiling/rappelling.

Mt Kilimanjaro is the prime but not the only site for mountain climbing in Tanzania. The nearby Arusha National Park and Mahale Mountains also magnetize the climbers, photographic safaris and birders. Mahale Mountains is another National Park that appeals the climbers.

Deep-sea fishing is done mostly in Mafia and the Pemba canals. Many of Tanzania’s lakes and rivers are appropriate for freshwater fishing. Lake Victoria is the best acknowledged.

Cultural tourism assets are abundant in Tanzania. The major cultural sites include Stone Town, Bagamoyo, Ujiji, Kilwa, The Olduvai Gorge, Stone age ruins at Isimilia and Rock paintings are found near Tarangire. The people of Tanzania incorporate cultural assets, as well. Massai are the best known but besides them, nearly 20 communities are engaged in organizing tours for tourists.

Tanzania is an exceptionally striking and fascinating country. The sites in Tanzania are prime tourist attractions that provide opportunities for the expansion and endorsement of diverse tourism activities ranging from game viewing, safari and beach holiday activities, mountain climbing, sight seeing, game hunting and photographic safaris.
