Have you always wanted to visit Australia? If the answer is yes, then this quick guide will get you started on an amazing escape Down Under.

You’ve fantasized about fleeing to Australia, so NOW, is the time to make your wild Downunder Dash reality! This is first in a Web series about plotting your swashbuckling escape to the end of the earth – Australia.

Who Can Help?

Local travel agents enjoy Australian holidays; they earn a high commission from them. The Lonely Planet Guide is always a updated and there are, of course, Aussies themselves ready to welcome you.

Three reasons why Australians will help you make it Downunder

  1. We love news from abroad
  2. We want you to share our lifestyle
  3. We welcome you.

What Will Happen To Me Downunder?

At first, as any destination, upon arrival you will feel giddy.  After taking your bearings you will be fine after a day or two.  In no time you will be talking, walking and laughing like an Aussie; a swell part of the gang.

What will happen to you there

  • You will be fed
  • You will be teased
  • You will be welcomed.

When Is Best To Go?

Australians experience every climate. Plot your escape to match the Australian seasons. Sydney, say, has a mild climate suitable all year.  Darwin, on the other hand, is not a great place to be on Christmas.  Canberra sings in Fall and Spring.

Chase the seasons downunder for the best year of your life

  • Arrive fresh in Spring into Sydney and Canberra
  • Stay Summer in Sydney
  • Fall into Melbourne and Adelaide
  • Winter in Darwin and Cairns finishes it all coolly

Where On Earth Is Australia?

Australia, the planet’s smallest continent, is located south of the Equator.  “The Island Continent,” “New Holland,” and “The Great Southern Land,” once were monikers for Australia, now affectionately named, “Downunder.”

On October 25th, 1616 one Dirk Hartog put aground near Shark Bay, Western Australia but the place remained untouched by Europeans until colonised by England on January 22nd, 1788 – a 171 year wait. Dutchman Dirk Hartog knew of this place from other European explorer-accounts but none had yet set foot on, “The Great South Land.”

Australian location fast facts

  1. Between 10 to 45 degrees South and 115 to 155 degrees East
  2. Next door to New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, France ( New Caledonia ) the Solomon Islands and Indonesia
  3. On any globe of the earth, Australia sits, “Down and Under,” the top of the sphere

Why Should I Go?

Nothing beats Australia’s adventurous living.

  • Bright days
  • Delectable dishes
  • Quests galore

How The Hell Am I Going To Make It There?

  • Set a goal – work toward it.  Write, “I want one (1) x visit Downunder by November the 25th, 2009.” Place it somewhere where you can see it.
  • Save the money – You might consider lay-buying the airline ticket. Pay the ticket off, so you don’t have to find the funds. Set aside a, ” Downunder Jar,” for coins, saving specifically for Sydney.
  • Shop Around – Don’t purchase the first, “Downunder Package,” your smiling travel agent proffers you. Independent travel is cheap.
  • Commitment Plus – Just Do It!
  • Fly – the most popular way to arrive
  • Cruise – now more popular than before

I long to see the land downunder. I guess I better find a really big jar and start saving that coin. Great article. You make it sound so inviting.
