Surfing Byron Bay Australia is an informative article all about surfing in Byron Bay. Where the best breaks are, conditions, time of year and lots more!
Surfing Byron Bay Australia is an amazing experience, the backdrop behind the wave is nearly unbeatable and the waves at times can be near perfect as they break on white soft sands.
This once little whaling village has grown and grown. She continues her growth, and for a long time now has been one of Australia’s most popular holiday destinations. Yes, Byron Bay has so much to offer the travel-hungry holiday maker. She seems to have everything. Her beauty is breathtaking and the town’s people’s hospitality is outstanding. Life here is just “super chilled” as Byron moved from being a largely Hippy town in the Sixties and Seventies to what she is today, a mixture of Cosmopolitan and Alternate lifestyles, that have managed to retain the best of both worlds. Aye, and the famous mountain, Mount Warning, smiles down on the Bay every day, bringing upon her the fortune she so deserves.
Surfing, Kite boarding and Skateboarding
The surf scene here is amazing; the waves are world class, with surfers such as Danny Wills, Kieren Perrow and a whole lot more, visiting. Never has one small town anywhere in the world produced such a high standard of classic surfers. The popular surf breaks such as The Pass, The Wreck and Tallow’s Beach can become quite competitive, as each surfer tries to grasp his next tube and explode as many Re-entries as possible. Other breaks such as Watego’s are a little more relaxed, however - still, look out! -These long boarders can really surf. Nevertheless, there are many more great breaks around that aren’t crowded, and if you wake up early enough, you can usually find a wave you can surf solo.
Surfing Byron Bay Australia and the locals
The locals here are pretty chilled and will respect you if you respect them. Surfing here for most is their life; the locals are always willing to give you a hand with information about the area, or to direct you to where the next red-hot band is playing, for that matter. They’re a lay-back lot, and it wasn’t really that long ago when, if the surf was up, shops would closed with a sign on their doors saying ‘’gone surfing’’.
Byron Bay Town
The town of Byron Bay is just below the middle of The Bay’s long beach, and is a stone throw away from the beach itself. This Cosmopolitan x Hippie town is chock-a-block full of great shopping places, pubs, restaurants, and has an incredible night life. Almost anything you want can be found in this colourful little place, and everything is within a comfortable walking distance.
