Live and Let Die – in The Fast Lane of Dubai Roads

The lighter side to accidents in Dubai.
If you are living in Dubai the chances that you will see an accident everyday is higher than the probability of sighting a Camel. As over speeding is the main culprit most of the crashes are fatal – if not for the people involved then surely for the cars they drive.
If anyone wants to have an out of the body experience, get behind the wheel of car and cruise at the permissible speed limit ( 120 kmph ) on the fast lane of Sheikh Zayed Road. After a while just lift your eyes and look into the rear view mirror – I can bet you will see a car hurtling at you like a runaway train trying to drive you off the road with the headlights flashing like lightning strikes.
If you panic the chances are that you will press the brakes instead of the accelerator and in the next moment will find your back seat in the front of your car. Because of the mayhem you created on the road that day you will wake up in hell only to find the driver of the other car following – this time on foot still wanting to kick you!!.
Sometime back I was witness to an accident where this car had hit a road barrier at very high speed and had flipped over a couple of times coming to rest on its flattened top. For certain the guy who was at the wheel would have lost his life and his spirit would have been hovering above the wreckage. What could have been crossing his mind? – “God let me get back into my body I need to live”. But alas, it was too late.
A few moments prior he would have been enjoying his speed ride probably with a mobile in one hand and a cigarette in the other, then – CRASH, it’s all over. It is time people at the wheel realized that you don’t always get a second chance with life – at least not in the fast lanes of Dubai roads.
