Ma’assalama Doha

Saying goodbye does’nt mean permanent. Who knows, I would be able to visit sweet Doha soon?
I would never forget Doha. It was the first country whom i worked abroad. Indeed, a milestone.
Beforehand, this tiny city had never existed in my ears; not until the 2006 Asian Games. For years, I often heard famous cities like Dubai of U.A.E., Manama of Bahrain, Muscat of Oman, Baghdad of Iraq, Jedd-ah of K.S.A. which now I lived.
Setting my foot at the mid-summer twenty-six months ago, i was fascinated to find out that Doha is a semi-open city. That its state is economically booming through LNG industry. Infrastructure development are rampant. Modern high rise sprout like mushrooms along the plains of West Bay coast. The sight signifies the progressing business trade of the city.
This view often grace my daily trip to work countless times. Though I could remember that only in few occasion where I sit along the Corniche to watch the sunrise or the sunset. Too bad, I don’t have plenty of time to do so. Yet, every time I pass by a ride glancing the sight gives me a sort of tranquility from a day of paper works.
The vicinity was clean and very orderly. In winter seasons, many Qatari families were on sight picnicking along the Corniche. Yet, aftermath, not even a piece of litter found in the picnic area. They are disciplined locals and abide Baladiya rules. Quite fascinating right?
Taxis around the malls are insufficient. Yet, it was orderly regulated by the government as well as safety of the passenger is noted. Metered-rate is strictly applied so the passenger will have no trouble paying accordingly. Other alternative for taxi is the arrange car lift usually recommended by friends. Both bus and taxis are run by Karwa company.
For the Malls, I visit most the City Center because of its near location to our project site. It is very convenient for one who does commute going out. But very seldom I go around the mall without any rush because of the limited off only on Fridays. I was always occupied at work and my ministry.
It was a month since I take off Doha. Yet, I couldn’t help missing the memories I left behind. It is more the physical aspect of the place I mentioned above. There is a beauty of the wonderful family I had in this place. They are a safety net family of God whom my security and belongingness sought whilst working away from my loved ones. I have established a deep relationship of friendship for lifetime that God had woven beyond my expectations. And for that, I am very grateful having them a part of my life.
A new chapter has come when my husband was called for work reasons to K.S.A. He obtained family status which calls for my departure of Doha. Long or short, Doha is worth the stay and coming back, I guess.
