Fiji in March

My travel experiences from time spent in Fiji.

Bula!! The Fijian welcome that was shouted in our direction at every opportunity throughout our stay in this friendly country.
Before we arrived we had been expecting rain for our entire stay but we were pleasantly surprised to find sunshine waiting for us, unfortunately this gave us false hopes as after the first couple of days passed the heavens opened and the rain set in for the majority of our stay.
We stayed close to a town called Nadi, on mainland Fiji, for two nights when we first arrived then took a 4 hour boat trip through a set of small islands, known as the ‘Yasawas’, to get to our next stop on an island called ‘Tavewa’.
We stayed on this island for two nights before gradually making our way back to the mainland with a series of short boat trips dropping us first on an island known as ‘Naviti’ for a further two nights and then on to an even smaller island referred to as ‘Bounty island’.
Bounty actually turned out to be the best of the three islands we visited, typical really being as we were only booked for one night as part of our ‘Awesome Adventure’ package. However the sun came out and we were able to make the most of our stay which included exploring the mess that was left behind after the ITV film crew were done filming ‘Celebrity Love Island’.
A final short boat trip took us back to the mainland where we stayed for a further three nights to round off our stay. The weather did rather limit our options for things to do and certainly made the boat journeys a white knuckle experience!!
We came to Fiji at the end of their summer season so it always rains here then but it’s also very hot.
