Across The Cities

And just when I thought I can close my travel diary, jumped in the opportunity to visit Kanpur, where my roommate for the past four years was getting married.

Since I had to go there via Delhi, I thought of spending a part of my vacation leave going around the country capital.

Packed my sports shoes, wore a jacket (because I couldn’t fit it inside my bag ), loaded with 2 bags I set off to Delhi from Jorhat(Assam), though I removed the jacket as soon as I came out of the airport.

Winter has still not set in Delhi. There’s this unmistakably familiar fragrance of a tree spread across the South Ext area where I was staying. The last time I was in Northern part of the country was around 2 decades back when Dad was posted in Ambala, Haryana.

Chadni Chowk – I thought only T Nagar was crowded, but Chadni Chowk could beat that by a huge margin. All I could see was a maddening crowd and shops. At one point I was literally walking on top of someone else’s feet. I tell you, the excitement connected with Chadni Chowk that is so glamorously shown in movies fizzed out.  Ohh there were so many people and in between were the vehicles. If permitted the rickshaw would have happily cycled over me which was stuck in traffic jam for what felt like a century.  :P But then, it was fun, to watch people push through the crowd, jumping over the wheels of cycles , stopping cars and boldly crossing the road I too did the same, adventure of sorts
