Ajmer is a great place of peaceful living.

Dargah Sharif

Dargah Sharif is one of the very famous places of Ajmer, the shrine of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti. The pilgrims from all over the world visit this place. The place is found to be a miracle as often what people wish is fulfilled if their prayers are true. The Dargah has silver doors. These doors are followed by the great gate, Buland Darwaza to courtyard. The shrine has a silver railing from all sides. In the courtyard, there are two huge iron quadroons which are used to prepare Kheer ( an indian sweet made of milk and rice). The smaller quadroon can take up to 2,250 kgs rice. The larger one can takes the double amount of it.

Pushkar

Pushkar is about 23 kilometers away from Ajmer and is a great tourist place. It is famous for Pushkar Lake and temple of Brahma (the only temple of Brahma in the world). It is really a great place, full of colors of Rajasthan.

Adhai-din-ka-jhonpra

It is said that there was a Jain (Hindu) temple that was converted into a mosque by Qutubuddin Aibak in 1193. The best part of this mosque is that though whole of the temple had been destroyed, but still the beauty of architecture and sculpture of Hindu art is there. The surprising part of it is the forty columns that are supporting the roof, but no two colums are alike.

Taragarh Fort

This is another great attraction of the city of Bundi in Rajasthan. It is situated 39 kilometers away from Kota. This fort was constructed in 1354 AD on a hillside. It has three gateways. Most of it is ruined now. The Taragarh fort had a large cannon called Garbh Gunjam (Thunder from the womb) that was used in its battles. It was the site of military activities. The view of the city of Bundi from the top of the Taragarh fort is just incredible.

Ana Sagar

This is an artificial lake located in the city of Ajmer. It got its name after the emperor, Anaji Chauhan. Later, the Mughal emperors Jehangir and Shahjahan added “Daulat Bagh Garden” and “Baradari” to add more beauty of the lake. But later, this lake was used by the British as a Circuit house.

Ajmer Museum

This museum is situated in the heart of old city. The museum was prepared in the beautiful palace built by the Mughal emperor Jehangir in 1616. It is made up of red sand stone. The museum is devoted to sculptures, epigraphs, weapons, and many beautiful antiquities. The most attractive part of the museum is its great collection of Gods and Goddesses like Surya, Vishnu, Kuber, Lord Shiva, Lakshmi Narayana and other female divinities. You can also see some Buddhist objects. There is a vast collection of artistic, wonderful miniatures of craft from artisans.
