England, The Norfolk Broads, Cotswolds and The Peak District

The country of England is a land of Kings, Queens and Castles, but it has a lot more to offer the tourist than just history, monuments and museums. Getting away from the main cities and the hustle and bustle of everyday life, visitors will find that the most beautiful areas to explore in England are the Norfolk Broads, the Cotswolds and the Peak District.

England has so much to offer for the tourist to enjoy outside of the big cities, especially when you go to the more rural towns and villages.

THE NORFOLK BROADS

Situated in the south east of England in an area called East Anglia is a beautiful scenic area known as the Norfolk Broads. Norfolk is an English county that has many rivers, some very wide and some quite narrow.

The Norfolk Broads is a boating enthusiast’s heaven. All boats are for hire, from small rowing boats up to large cruising yachts.

There is nothing better than spending idyllic lazy days just sailing along on placid tranquil waters without a care in the world.

Many of the larger boats can be rented by the week or month and will have adequate sleeping quarters for a family to spend a very memorable time in these wonderful natural settings.

The towns and villages that you will discover along the rivers have lots of craft shops and many welcoming rustic style restaurants where home made food is always on the menu.

THE COTSWOLDS

Situated in the middle of England in an area just south of the Midlands is an incredibly beautiful area known as the Cotswolds.

This is Shakespeare country where just about all of the houses that are here are made out of local quarried stone and where many of the houses have thatched straw roofs.

This area of England is steeped in medieval history and the towns and villages reflect this fact in their castles, churches, monuments and many heritage listed buildings.

The countryside in and around this area is absolutely wonderful with many villages that have little stone bridges over rippling streams and central greens for quiet moments just reading and resting.

Remember to stop for a while at many of the tearooms that you will find in this area and have afternoon tea with scones and cream along with some delicious homemade strawberry jam.

THE PEAK DISTRICT

Situated centrally in the north of England is a beautiful breathtaking area known as the Peak District. As the name readily suggests this is the part of England that has many high mountains and hills.

In the winter this area of England can be quite bleak and many of the towns and villages will be cut off due to the heavy falls of snow. But during the spring and summer months this is an area that attracts a lot of visitors.

The main reason for this is because of the amazing views that can be seen across the hills and valleys of this truly spectacular area. A healthy walk along paths and country tracks is always available to anyone who has brought their walking shoes with them.

The towns and villages in this area have many drinking houses where the old locals will be more than willing to tell you their stories of times gone past and the many mysteries and legends of this area.
