Japan’s pride and Joy, the majestic Mount Fuji.
Mount Fuji
On the island of Honshu, which is Japan’s “mainland” in the Far East, is this beautiful mountain; Mount Fuji. Mount Fuji is 12,388 feet high and is actually a volcano that has not had a major eruption since 1707. Legend has it that the mountain was created in 286 B.C. after an earthquake, and continued to build from that time. During the last major eruption the ashes spread as far as Tokyo, which is about twenty-five miles away, over time the ash hardened helping to create this very tall, high mountain. Since the height of Mount Fuji is over twelve thousand feet high it get very cold up at the top, making it the awesome mountain that it is today.
