Traveling in Kuala Lumpur for Free

When it comes to traveling, there are things out there which will not cost you a single cent. It just depends on whether you know about it or not.

Could you actually travel around Kuala Lumpur for free? The answer is yes. It is possible. If any Malaysians could complain on the price of living there, who else would not? However, when it comes to traveling, there are things out there which will not cost you a single cent. Just remember to bribe yourself with money to indulge in Malaysian food, accommodation, transportation and probably shopping. The rest are free.

Sultan Abdul Samad Building (LRT- Masjid Jamek Station)

Designed by British architect, A.C Norman, in 1894-1897, this building was the former British secretariat administration building. This building is well-blended with Victorian and Moorish architecture from its stairs to the exterior design. The clock-tower and the shiny copper dome of the building is still well preserved till today.

Bukit Nanas Recreational Park (Monorail- Bukit Nanas Station)

Covering an area of 11.05 hectares, this tropical forest park is the oldest forest reserve in the city centre. At the top of the hill, stands formidably the Menara Kuala Lumpur which is used for telecommunication purpose. Try jungle trekking and get close to nature in this park amidst the hustle and busy city.

Central Market (LRT- Pasar Seni Station)

This pre-war building was once a wet-market in Kuala Lumpur. It is currently an arts an cultural hub. Central market houses a combination of handicrafts and antiques from all over Malaysia, Local artist also display and demonstrate how their crafts are made. If you are lucky, you might be able to watch some cultural performance here too. Purchase your souvenirs and gifts here. Sell some of your items which you bought here in e-bay and you will be amazed how much they fetch.

Petronas Twin Towers (LRT- KLCC station)

Currently the tallest twin tower in the world, Petronas is a major attraction for everyone who visits Kuala Lumpur. The Islamic architecture combine with modern design of this building is the central-piece of Kuala Lumpur city centre. Enjoy a bird-eye view of Kuala Lumpur city from the tower bridge. Get indulge yourself with shopping is this classy environment from the world famous boutiques.

Bintang Walk (Monorail- Bukit Bintang Station)

Bintang Walk is also known as Jalan Bukit Bintang for the locals. This street is an ultimate spot for dining, shopping and entertainment. Most major celebration and parties are held in this street. There are also many shopping outlets along the street. From coffee shops to shopping malls, this street is pack especially during weekends. The night is never late in this part of Kuala Lumpur.

Times Square (Monorail- Times Square)

Like a replica of New York’s Times Square building, this building is an international landmark for luxury business, food, accommodation and entertainment. It is also a huge shopping hub with a proximate 1000 retailer shops. It also houses Asia’s largest indoor theme park.

Titiwangsa Lake/ Lake Gardens (Monorail- Titiwangsa)

Escape from Kuala Lumpur’s crush and come to Titiwangsa where there are plenty of parks and gardens. The man made lake there is a main attraction for recreational sports. There are many sports facilities available here. Enjoy the beautiful lake scenery at the lake edge. There is also a Bird Park, Deer Park and Butterfly Park here. This is the most accessible park in the city centre.
