Boracay: Wet and Wild in October

Boracay is a resort island in the Philippines famous for its fine, white-sand beaches. Come October, it is a favorite vacation place of European and American tourists. But, in the Philippines, October is smack in the middle of the wet season. So what’s it like to visit Boracay in October?

Boracay Fun
Boracay Island lies just off the northern tip of mainland Panay in the province of Aklan in the Visayas region. It’s shaped like a key with the middle part forming a stretch of beach where a lot of the action in Boracay takes place. Called White Beach, this long playground in sun and surf is where you will find hotels and restaurants next to each other and lined up for the consumption of the beach-going public. The Boracay White Beach is crowded, cosmopolitan, and definitely still a piece of paradise if you simply ignore the buildings and look towards the sea instead of inland.
White Beach in Boracay is where you can socialize and party to your heart’s content (day or night) and get your fill of the beach experience at the same time. You can do all sorts of stuff on the island—there’s scuba diving, snorkelling, banana boating, swimming, windsurfing, island hopping, paragliding, trail biking, horseback riding, and sunbathing. There’s just too many for all of them to be listed here. Suffice it to say that you can definitely have a good time in Boracay. But of course anything illegal will get you into trouble. So it’s best to stick to what’s permissible when it comes to fun.

Boracay Rain
Usually, the many outdoor activities in Boracay are well and good—if it’s summer! If you go to Boracay in October, you will definitely get less sun and more wind and rain. In fact, you may get lots of rain! But don’t fret. If there’s no typhoon over Panay, you’ll still be able to enjoy the beach during brief hours of sunshine. You may even get a little tan in! Let’s not forget that it’s warm in October in Boracay with an average of 30 or so degrees Celsius), so even if there’s a little rain or wind, you can still have fun in the water, even if it’s just to do battle with the strong surf!

I’m glad you like it! I was in Boracay last week for four days. By the way, there’s the Ati-Atihan festival in Aklan in third week of January which you might be interested to experience!
There’s more about the Philippines in my “A Taste of the Philippines” blog in Blogspot. Just search for it with my username, alvinwriter. Thanks!
