How to Survive The Sudden Weather Change in Manila

These past few weeks’ weather changes have affected everyone from students to senior citizens. Are you sure you’re ready for every bit of change in the weather that is about to happen?
It’s irritating to wake up sweaty all over, but it’s nice to sleep during the cold rainy nights. This is the usual situation that anyone can find themselves in, especially when you’re living in Manila. One minute it’s so hot that you can get a heat stroke, then after a few hours, the rain pours down and soaks your clothes like you just got them from the washing machine. This kind of scenario may be the reason why some people get sick, especially the little children. And when we get sick, we can miss a lot of good lessons in school, or that commplete attendance bonus at work.
In order to avoid these things of course, one must always be PREPARED. I know, I know, our mothers have constantly reminded us to bring our umbrellas, wear our jackets and bring a towel to work or school. But somehow, we forget or we disregard her reminders and we say, “the sun is out, why should I bring an umbrella?” or, “I already have a lot stuff to bring.” Well my friend think again, because in this area, mothers are always right.
1. Umbrella
Rain or shine, or should I say; typhoon or sizzling sun, you HAVE TO carry an umbrella with you. You don’t have to bring the big family umbrella, just carry around the handy one.
2. Light Sweater/Light Jacket
If it rains in the city, it can get cold too. It’s good to have a jacket or a sweater in your locker or backpack.
3. Towel/Hanky
The sun brings out sweat; the rain brings mud. It’s good to have something that can wipe off both of them, right? Don’t mind buying tissue papers, they’ll only clog the street drainaige.
4. Slippers
You always have to have this with you. Wearing it is a good way to rest your feet from your brand new leather shoes, or to brave the cold, dirty and rat pee infested floodwaters of Manila.
5. Money
You need this to buy water and food of course to rehydrate yourself, and some change for the telephone to call up your ‘rents and tell them to pick you up because you’re stranded. But if you’re thrifty or you’re just saving up for something, you can just bring a home made sandwich with you.
I think that’s it. This are the list of things you NEED, rain or shine. You’ll never be conquered by the weather if you have these with you. If you think I left out some things, let me know.
Have a great day everyone!
