The Philippines: A Hopeless Land?

Do you think the Philippines can overcome all of its problems? Maybe continuous prayers can help.
Philippines is stuck in the middle of countless problems. It seems like there’s no end. Problems keep piling up and Filipinos are already drowning in poverty. Why is the present administration so insensitive to the needs of the masses? Their primary mission is supposed to be to serve the Filipinos. What happened to that mission?
Maybe they already forgot (or intentionally forgot!) the promises they made during the campaign period. Or maybe their principles were overshadowed by the color of money and changed by the taste of power.
Government officials are, no doubt, very smart, but some are heartless. One can’t serve without a heart. Brains alone either can’t. It needs deep passion to serve and lead millions of people. Philippines is very unfortunate to only have a few people with that kind of passion.
Philippines have a lot of potential to grow if you will only into consideration its resources. The only problem is the people who handle these resources. Most of the Filipinos can’t do anything about the situation but to pray and pray and pray as evidenced by a number of prayer rallies and masses for a renewed and better Philippines.

i have come myself to believe that some of the leaders now originally wanted to help our country. but the time that they won the elections, maybe the feeling of being superior crowded their thoughts and thus they became the opposite of what they intended to be.

it is really a two-way relationship to have harmony and synergy. we have an abundant share of corrupt politicians, but as Filipinos we should also do our share to make a difference. we chose our leaders so we are contributory to the fate of our country. but there’s no time to sulk in one corner, the Filipino Can! and we can rise above challenges if we will continue to devise and improve our lives in our own little way.

You are right. Though we may not generalize, it’s certain that most politicians abuse their power.
I wish that the Philippines restore its honor: Pearl of the East.
