Whether you are traveling with your family or friends, here are few Bangkok travel tips to make the best of your vacation.

The moment you step in the pre-departure area for your flight to Bangkok, you will instantly know that you are heading to a tourist destination. Throng of tourists flocks to Bangkok every year from family who wants to explore the outdoor adventures or a couple who simply wants to unwind and spend time together.

Whether you are traveling with your family or friends, here are few Bangkok travel tips to make the best of your vacation.

Comfy Shoes or Slippers

Sightseeing tours will require you to walk a lot. So make sure you pack your good and comfy pair of walking shoes however during summer, the best option is slippers or open sandals. It will make a big difference in your tours if you really want to relish the exotic sceneries in Bangkok.

Just remember to wear something that is really comfortable for walking.

Cotton-Made Clothes

If you want to walk at ease during the tours, avoid wearing heavy and warm clothes. Best clothes to pack will include light shorts, t-shirts, blouse or pants and preferably made of cotton. Cotton fabric absorbs perspiration and it is also soft and very comfortable to wear.

Temple Visits

It is really inevitable not wear shorts and sleeveless when in Bangkok because of the weather. However, this outfit is not welcome in the Buddhist temples and other palaces. If you cannot bear wearing covered clothes, just bring a scarf or wrap-around skirt and keep it in your bag though there are also available blouse, long skirts and pants for rent in some sightseeing sites.

Covered Cameras during Songkran Festival

Songkran Festival is the Thai New Year which falls from April 13-15. This annual celebration is marked by throwing of water, not a slight squirt but a splash of water. Locals and tourists alike will take water guns with them while others stay on the roadside and have a garden hose to spray to passersby.

So if your vacation is during Songkran festival, try to wrap your cameras and other electronic gadgets with plastic before you feel sorry for soaking your expensive gizmos.

Pack Extra Traveling Bags

It is impossible to go to Bangkok without shopping. Quench your shopping appetite in Bangkok from shoes, clothes, souvenir items, silk, tailor-made suits and so on. Rather than buying an extra traveling bag, pack your folding travel bags that you keep in your closet back home.

Beware of Tuktuk Scammers

Considered as one of the major mode of transportation in Bangkok, this three wheeled cart can take two to three persons. Oftentimes tourists are fascinated with Tuktuk and preferred it than a regular taxicab.

Though the fare for Tuktuk sounds relatively cheap, it is still advisable to negotiate the price. Usually the bargain is about 30% – 50% off from the initial fare they offer.

Also, beware of the scams. Sometime you will ask them to take you to a particular sightseeing site but they will suggest visiting first few shops for jewelries and tailor-made suits. You may consider it as a kind gesture because they take you around but don’t be deceived. The reason the Tuktuk drivers insist you to visit the shops is because they have incentive or reward from the shops. Every time they take potential customers to these shops, they receive rewards such as fuel or vouchers.

Bottle of Water

Always bring bottled water with you. The tropical weather of Bangkok will keep you feeling thirsty. Keep yourself hydrated.

Now, with these few Bangkok travel tips in mind, you are set to go and explore Bangkok! Have a great time!

Yeah the tips are good.
The Beware of Scam is the no1 thing that all tourist are duped with. It does not have to be a TUK TUK and can be any conned man on the street or some guide or hotel people.

Most of these shops wont give you a quality at the price you pay since they have to pay lots of overheads charges on commission.

I recommend visiting SJ internationals for fine jewellery and Excelsior in Bangkok for good fine clothing.

Cheers,
