Review of Diamond Cliff Resort Patong

The Diamond Cliff Resort is located on a hill overlooking Patong Beach and is easily one of the best resorts in Phuket.
In September 2008 my boyfriend and I stayed at the Diamond Cliff Resort for 12 nights. We booked the resort through a travel agency. Our travel agent was able to get us a deal where we paid for 8 nights and got 4 free. We also had our room upgraded.
After an overnight flight from Melbourne we arrived at about 9am in the morning. Our room was not available yet but the reception staff were more than happy to hold our luggage for us while we went for a swim in the pool. We were able to rummage through our suitcases to find our bathers and everything we needed.
A staff member took us down to one of the pools and told us that our room should be ready by about 12pm. We certainly didn’t struggle to fill up our time. At midday we check-in which went very smoothly. Due to the resort being situated on a very steep hill, we had a little buggy take us up to our room. We had originally booked a standard room, but with the upgrade had an ocean view room. When we stepped in, we were amazed at the size of it. Certainly a lot bigger than what we needed. There was a king size bed in the middle facing a flat screen TV, a dressing room and a bathroom. We also had free internet access which was great. In the corner of room, looking out the window was a spa. We only got to use this once but it was amazing. The view from the balcony was spectacular. We could see for miles and Patong Beach looked so good.
After settling into our room we went for a walk around the resort grounds, which was actually quite difficult on the steep hills. The resort has 2 big pools, a number of restaurants and bars, a gym and a day spa. We ate in a couple of the resort restaurants which were very good. I personally recommend the Korean restaurant. I also spent a day in the day spa which was just pure relaxation.
It was about a 15 minute walk down the hill and into Patong. As it was downhill on the way and uphill on the way back, we generally walked into Patong and got a Tuk Tuk home. It was only a few dollars in a Tuk Tuk to get back to the resort.
I highly recommend this resort to anyone staying in Patong. The rooms, pools and views are second to none and I can’t wait to go back.
