Review of Pathumwan Princess Bangkok

The Pathumwan Princess is the only hotel to stay at in Bangkok. Connected to MBK, the biggest shopping complex in Bangkok, the Pathumwan Princess has the perfect location.

We booked the Pathumwan Princess Hotel in Bangkok through a travel agency. The travel agent had told us that there were renovations going on so we were not expecting much. We decided to still stay there though just because of the location and it being connected to MBK, Bangkok’s biggest shopping centre.

It’s an understatement to say that we were amazed at this hotel from the minute we stepped foot inside it. It completely exceeded our expectations. The lobby and foyer area is so clean and big. You feel like you have stepped foot in a luxurious 5 star hotel with all the lights and so forth.

Check-in happened really fast. While we were waiting they gave us refresher towels and a cool drink. We were then taken straight up to our room on the 16th floor. We had only booked a superior room, which is the cheapest, so I was not expecting to be on one of the higher floors so we were pleasantly surprised to find ourselves up high. The view from the room was spectacular, overlooking the city of Bangkok. The room had a king size bed which was really comfortable, a mini fridge, TV, and a huge tub. The shower was over the bath and had a hand held nozzle with different water pressures. We found the phone by the toilet quite amusing.

It was quite late by the time we got into our room on the first night so we ordered room service, It took about half an hour for the food to arrive and we certainly had a lot of it for what we paid. Very reasonable priced. I had the burger and my partner had Pad Thai noodles. It was great.

On our first day in Bangkok we made the most of the hotel connection into MBK. After filling up on the hotel buffet breakfast, which was included in what we had paid, we spent the day shopping and loved being able to take a break whenever and retreat easily into the hotel. It was so good just being able to dump shopping bags into our room so conveniently also.

On our second day we ventured out into Bangkok. At the end of the day we decided to have a swim in the pool. It is a big lap-swimming pool, not a resort like pool. That didn’t matter though. There were only one or two lanes closed off for those who wanted to swim laps, and the rest of the pool was available for the other hotel guests who just wanted a leisurely swim in the pool. Next to the pool are two spas, and despite the heat there were always people in them. There are also sun lounges all around the pool. One of the great things about this area is that it overlooks Bangkok.

There was also an Italian restaurant next to the pool that looked very charming. We did not eat there, just due to a lack of time, but would definitely be willing to try it the next time we are there.

Overall, we loved our stay here and will definitely be returning.
