There are a number of things that make the Patong Merlin Hotel as great as it is. In my opinion, the main attractions are the pool, beautiful landscaped gardens and the location, which is second to none. It was so good sitting on the balcony, overlooking Patong beach and sipping a cocktail. The view from the balcony was unbelievable and we witnessed some of the most spectacular sunsets.

The rooms are pretty standard, but comfortable and had everything we needed. Even though they could do with some updating we still found them spacious and clean. There was a king bed which was a little bit too hard, but I still managed to sleep every night. 

The resort staff were always so friendly and smiling. Their English was very basic and communication was sometimes a little difficult, but when you are in a foreign country its probably not fair to expect everyone to speak perfect English. Compared to a hotel we stayed in at Pattaya, their English was brilliant.

Breakfast was served in an open air restaurant and buffest style. There was a huge selection of foods including eggs, pancakes, noodles and sushi. There is a restaurant in the resort called Cafe’ Del Mar and the food here was fine, but I think a little expensive. We did enjoy the dinner entertainment at the restaurant which was Thai style dancing.

I would recommend to those travelling to Patong to venture out of their resort to eat. There are some amazing restaurants with food at a much cheaper price than inside the resorts.

I have stayed at the Patong Merlin Hotel 3 times now and would not hesitate to stay there again. There is always something new and exciting to experience in Patong. This resort is a respectable 4 stars. If you are after a luxurious resort then I would suggest you try elsewhere. However, if you want just a reasonably priced resort with friendly staff and good facilities then definitely look at the Patong Merlin.
