What are the five tallest mountains in the world?
In life there are many challenges. They may seem as insurmountable as the mountains but under God even the tallest mountains can be climbed one by one. Here are the five tallest mountains in the world.
(1) Mt. Everest (also called Mt.Chomolungma)

Mt. Everest is the tallest mountain in the world. It is 29,0356 ft and is located in the Himalayas. Both Nepal and China can claim it as theirs as it lies on their borders.
(2) K2

K2 is 28,251 ft and is located on the border of China and Pakistan. It is a strange name for a prominent mountain or a mountain in general. It is part of the Karakoram range of mountains. It is said to be rather difficult to climb. It has proven very dangerous although it is named K2 not K9.
(3) Mt. Kanchenjunga

The name “Kanchenchunga” means “The Five Treasures of Snows” having five peaks. Mt. Kanchenchunga is 28,169 ft in height, almost as high as K2. It is located in the Himalayas.
(4) Lhotse 1

Lhotse1 is located in the Himalayas on the China-Nepal border and is close to Mt. Everest. It is 27,890 ft.
(5) Makalu 1

Makalu is located in the Himalayas on the China-Nepal border. It is 27,766 ft tall.
All of the above mountains, majestic in their beauty, were climbed from 1953-1955 in almost the same order as the list presented here. As one song made popular on “Sound of Music” says “Climb every mountain, ford every stream, follow every rainbow, till you reach your dream.”
