Terrible earthquake shook southeastern Turkey on Sunday, and the possibility of killing up to a thousand people.

Earthquake in Turkey was magnitude 6.6 on the Richter scale with a depth of 5 km (3 miles). As a result of the Turkey earthquake, hundreds building in the region collapse, according to media reports quoting the Kandilli Observatory.

However, the U. S. Geological Survey previously reported that the Turkey earthquake measuring 7.6 magnitudes.

Emergency officers struggled to rescue people trapped in the rubble of buildings in the city of Van and the surrounding area on the shores of Lake Van, near the border with Turkey and Iran.

“We estimate around 1,000 buildings are damaged and our estimate is for hundreds of lives lost. It could be 500 or 1,000,” Kandilli Observatory general manager Mustafa Erdik told the press as reported by Reuters.

Turkey, which is prone to earthquakes, was on some plates the earthquake.

In 1999, two strong earthquakes in densely populated areas and industrial areas in northwestern Turkey killed some 20,000 people.

And a strong earthquake in a small town in the province of Van Caldiran killed 3840 in 1976.

I pray for the victims of the Turkey earthquake, may they all can get through all these calamities with patience.

It was really a devastating disaster. The earthquake was so strong that we felt it here in the neighboring country, too.
