A cave in the National Park Phong Nha-Ke Bang, Vietnam, estimated as the largest cave in the world. Imagine, a wide sockets reaches 150 meters and 200 meters high.
“Goa is 6.5 miles long today, but the end of the sockets are still continuing with walls 45 feet high calcite which we stopped,” said Adam Spillane, a member of the British expedition team searching for the cave.
Goa Hang named Son doong or mean mountain river cave was first discovered by a forest guard named Ho Khanh in 1991. However, no one has ever explored because of the large and high wind pressure because of the underground river is very large.
A total of 13 people combined explorers from the University of Science Vietnam and English explorers finally held Caving Expedition 2009 went into the cave. They spent five days in mid-April to survey the cave line.
With a measuring instrument based LaserRace 300, the team can measure the height of the ceiling and wide cavity along the way with the hope of making maps. Currently the data are analyzed.
However, initial reports indicate, a large main cavity with twice the largest cave record today. So, Hang Son doong probably the biggest cave in the world today.
