From the moment you arrive, the beauty of Barbados surrounds you like the warmth of a crackling fire on a cold, rainy day.

One look at its dazzling sunshine, luscious white-sand beaches, and turquoise water, and you’ll be refreshed, revived and ready for fun.
For swimming and water sports, check out Mullins Beach on the west coast, where the Caribbean laps gently on the shore. For a change of pace, visit the eastern coast of Bathsheba, where the Atlantic kicks up an amazing fuss. And though the eastern waters are too rough for swimming, you can still take a quiet stroll along the beaches, which are often temptingly deserted and offer spectacular views of the sunset.

To soak up even more local color, hop on one of the buses that shuttle between Bridgetown and Speighstown, home to the excellent a;;-inclusive Almond Beach Village. The ride– one of the wildest you’ll ever take –is affordable.
