A Piece of Paradise

This is a short description of my island.
Nature lovers there is a piece of paradise that you have not yet discovered. This unique place has natural beauty that is unsurpassed. Lush green vegetation, sparkling rivers and cascading waterfalls are some of the treasures existing there. This land of rare beauty is a small island in the Carribbean called Dominica.
Dominica is unspoilt and has been able to maintain its natural beauty unlike most of the sister islands of the Caribbean. The island does not possess five star resorts, golf courses or miles of white sand beaches. However, an eco-friendly environment is highly promoted. Visitors to the island enjoy nature walks in the rain forests, baths in the clear rivers, the sulphur springs or the waterfalls. There is also a spectacular journey through the interior on an aerial tram. Bird watching is also among the many nature loving activities on the island.
The Dominican experience is waking up to the chirping of birds in nearby trees and a view of the morning sun rising behind lush green mountains. Whenever you open your door you will be greeted by fresh, clean air and the sight of an abundance of flora and fauna. Depending on your location you may also be favoured with the sound of a gentle flowing of a river or stream. Fresh fruits are always in abundance, straight from the trees, at the market or from roadside vendors.
The people add to the uniqueness of Dominica. Nowhere in the world can you find a friendlier group of people. A recent poll ranked Dominicans as the fourth happiest people in the world. Everyone greets everyone and there is always someone willing to share or lend a hand.
Anyone who loves nature would be fascinated by what this island has to offer. It is by far a most rewarding experience to see an island so preserved and so unique in its natural splendour. In fact Dominica is known as the Nature Island of the Caribbean.
