As soon as you arrive you can just tell that it will be a great vacation.  You are greeted at the airport by a band playing Latin music and smiles on everyone’s faces.  Seeing someone from the hotel with a sign that had my name on it made me feel like a celebrity.  The air smells clean and everyone you meet is in such good spirits and willing to help you.

If you stay at a tourist resort you will probably get the most out of your vacation if you are looking to relax and enjoy the beach and warm waters.  The staff is very friendly and considerate.  They meet you outside with a drink and carry your luggage up to your room for you.  After that you can do whatever you want.  I chose to sleep for a couple of hours because my flight was at 6am and I was exhausted.  After I just walked around the resort checking out the restaurants and beach, the bar and pool.  There is so much to do.  The staff are very friendly and are always around to make sure you have a great time and to make sure you have whatever you need. 

I spent a lot of my time at the beach and in the pool, at night there was a live show performed by the staff members.  It was a lot of fun.  One day I chose to take an excursion and go snorkeling, we went on a bus ride for about 45 minutes, then took a boat for about 10 minutes to a small island that the staff members called “paradise island”.  It was amazing.  There were great views, we took snorkeling lessons, went snorkeling for about 3 hours anfd saw some awesome tropical fish and some reefs.

After 6 days of heaven it was time to go back home to Vermont.  I plan on going again very soon.  The cost was cheap compared to other vacations I had considered and I got the celebrity treatment the whole time I was there.  I recommend the Dominican Republic to anyone looking for a great time for a great price.
