Three Cascades make up beautiful Carbet Falls.

Carbet Falls is a series of three waterfalls located along the Carbet River in Guadeloupe in the Eastern Caribbean. Guadeloupe is an overseas department of France located in the Leeward Islands.

Carbet Falls three cascades are set among the tropical rainforests on the lower slopes of the volcano La Soufrière.

The three falls go in order from the highest to the lowest while they follow a mixed pattern in terms of accessibility. The first fall drops 410 feet and is reached by taking a long steep trail. The source of the Carbet River is a little over 1 mile further upstream from the first fall at an elevation of some 4,300 feet.

The second cascade is the easiest to reach as a paved road and then wooden staircases lead to it. The second cascade falls 360 feet.

The third cascade is only some 65 feet in height but has the largest volume flow of water of any waterfall in Guadeloupe. Access to this waterfall is strictly by foot and only recommended for experienced hikers.

The falls are one of the most popular visitor sites in Guadeloupe with approximately 400,000 visitors annually. Tourists love not only Carbet Falls but the lush scenery and vegetation of the tropical rainforest on the slopes of La Soufrière Volcano. (You can see the falls in the lower right corner)

Even Christopher Columbus noted Carbet Falls in his log in 1493 and called Guadeloupe “the island of beautiful waters”.
