Introduction
Mexico is a very intriguing country that attracts many visitors annually. It is located in North America, and has unique geographical wonders, a diverse culture, and ethnicity that are not found anywhere else in North America. I’m hoping through this article that I will provide you with a glimpse into the history, geography, and excitement this country has to offer. I have chosen to include a recipe for a delicious Mexican dessert that I encourage you to bake for yourself.

Country Information
· Geographic Facts
Here are some geographic facts about Mexico:
1. Mexico is located in North America, and is bordered by the Caribbean Sea, the Gulf of Mexico, Belize and Guatemala. The entire country is slightly less than three times the size of Texas. It is covered by many types of terrain including tall mountains, deserts, low coastal plains, and high plateaus.
2. Mexico’s geographical location leaves its people exposed to many natural threats. It is susceptible to tsunamis hailing for the Pacific Ocean. Volcanoes and earthquakes threaten to ruin the center and south of Mexico. It is also vulnerable to hurricanes on its Pacific, Gulf of Mexico, and Caribbean coasts.

3. Mexico is divided into 32 states, which are then divided into municipalities. Currently there are 2456 municipalities. Each one holds elections every three years for president and local council members. The municipal governments do have taxing power; however they rely on state and federal sources for heavy financial support. They are responsible for such things as local trash collection, public safety, and maintenance. Therefore municipalities are very much like parishes and counties in the United States.

Wow, I didn’t know that Mexico has the oldest surviving university in North America! Mexico has a melting pot all its own with so many ancient civilizations making up its current populace.
And thanks to Mexico, we have chocolate and corn! Chocolate and popcorn are two of my favorite snacks

I love how this article focuses on the positive and historical aspects of Mexico. I don’t think I was really aware of how beautiful and diverse the Mexican land is. We normally hear so much about drug cartels and border jumpers that we forget to remember how much Mexico has to offer. Unfortunately, the less beautiful side of Mexico makes it dangerous to visit as a tourist. Mexican history makes me want to learn more about their native heritage and customs of the Aztec people.
