Eight Things About Puerto Rico

Before traveling find out everything you can about Puerto Rico. In this way, you would know what to expect.

1. There are three main airports in Puerto Rico. The biggest one is in San Juan. The other two are in the towns of Ponce and Aguadilla.

2. El Yunque is the name of the only tropical rain forest in United States territory. This rain forest is in Puerto Rico.

3. There is a tiny frog in the countryside of Puerto Rico called Coqui. Locals say that these frogs sing a beautiful song. These frogs start singing every night, at sunset. They stop singing at sunrise.

4. People in Puerto Rico enjoy drinking coffee. Tea is not that popular. Three o’clock in the afternoon is coffee time. 

5. Bread is a very popular product in Puerto Rico. There are bakeries in every town of the island. Puerto Rican bread is similar to Italian bread, but softer and a little bit sweet.

6. Puerto Rico is a tropical island. In most towns, it fells like summer all year around. The only exceptions are the towns in the center of the island. Some of these towns are Aibonito, Cidra and Cayey.  In these towns, during the month of December, the temperature can go down to fifty degrees.

7. In Puerto Rico, people celebrate Christmas in December and The Three King Day in January. After The Three King Day, they have eight more days of celebrations. In other words, Christmas celebrations last until January 14th.

8. People in Puerto Rico are very friendly. They like saying hi, good morning and good afternoon to everybody they see walking down the street, even if they do not know the person. If this happen to you just say hi to them, keep walking and enjoy your visit to the island.
