Seven of The World’s Most Attractive and Colorful Beaches

Mother Nature often does wonders. While most beaches have normal colored sand, there are few rare beaches with other colored sand. Come on; let us have a tour of world’s most colorful and attractive beaches.

Punalu’u Beach is a black sand beach is in Hawaii. Due to volcanic rock and glass, black sand is formed.

Hyams Beach is a milky white sand beach in New South Wales, Australia. The sand is comprised of pure particles of quartz; hence it is in white color. According to Guinness book of world records, this beach has the whitest sand in the world.

Papakolea Beach

Papakolea Beach is an olive green sand beach in Hawaii. The sand comprises of Olivine, a magnesium iron silicate component of lava. It is eroded and accumulated on the beach due to its density and toughness.

Kaihalulu Beach is a red sand beach in Maui. The constant eroding of iron components give the sand red color.

Pfeiffer Beach

Pfeiffer Beach is a purple sand beach in California. Due to the crushed manganese components the sand has purple color.

Ramla Bay Beach

Ramla Bay Beach is an orange sand beach on northern side of the island of Gozo. The surrounding rocks are rich of golden limestone and volcanic ash, which combine to give the sand orange color.

Glass Beach

Glass Beach is in Fort Bragg, California. The dumping of garbage like glass, appliances etc into coastline led to the accumulation of glass on that area. The broken glass is turned into small pebble like structures by the force of water and appears beautiful after mixing with sand.

Such beautiful beaches! I would love to visit them all some day. Another interesting beach in California is Agate Beach in Patrick’s Point State Park, south of Crescent City. You can sit for hours on end sifting through the tiny colorful stones. There is even a sign telling you what kinds of stones to look for!
