Bahamian Eats: The Poop Deck

A restaurant in Nassau, Bahamas with a questionable name.

Poop Deck: Nassau, Bahamas
Some might be turned off by a restaurant called the Poop Deck. But in Nassau, this waterfront dining locale is a hot spot for tourists and locals alike. But how is this the case with a less than appetizing name? Rest assured this restaurant is named quite appropriately. Poop deck has a ship-related connotation; it is a term that refers to the roof of a cabin found at the rear side of the ship.
So no worries, okay? The Poop Deck is a great place to eat, drink, and be merry. There are two locations in the Nassau area. One is beachfront property, while the other is overlooking a marina. So bring your appetite, and come to the Poop Deck for fresh Bahamian seafood and a cold bottle of Kalik.

Yes, that is definitely a questionable name, but the name would actually stir my curiosity and make me want to check it out. I guess I can be strange at times. :>)

Papaleng: For those of us without a seafaring background – strange is right! Hehe, I was pretty surprised the first time the Poop Deck was recommended in Nassau as a good spot to eat. Luckily, we finally found our way there and the food was great!

Restaurants often are prone to strange sounding names. But if I were to travel to this area, I would want to go to this place whether it was recommended or not, because the name intriques me.
Mammoth Lakes has restaurants like, Austria Hof, Matterhorn, Stove, Bear Creek, Angel’s (I think this one is named this, because it is way up high on the mountain, close to heaven?) heehee. Guess I am just a little goofy, to be drawn to resturants with strange sounding names. I like this article! And the picture helped to wet the appetite.

Vikram: Thanks for stopping by! Definitely, if you visit Nassau, you should check it out. Good food and great atmosphere. I ate at the Marrina Poop Deck, but I’m sure the beachfront one has a gorgeous view.
Catelin: Cool. Mammoth Lake kind of has a Alps theme going on with some of those names, no? I also like the Bear Creek and Angel’s (very symbolic name!). Mammoth Lakes sounds like a cool place to visit for many reasons. Hopefully I can go there some day.

weegysgram: Hehe, thanks for the comment! I was surprised at first, but it was pretty crowded while I was there and the food was good, so I guess an interesting name can be a draw.
