Abandoned Places: The Ghost Town of Kadykchan

A city reminding us about the fall of the Soviet Union.

Kadykchan

A city, that once had over 10 thousand residents was abandoned in a few weeks after the fall of the Soviet Union. It’s Kadykchan. Located in the far east of Russia, it was based on coal mining, had a school and other needed buildings. It was abandoned, because the city didn’t bring any income to Russia.

The most interesting part is the pictures, just take a look:

The panoramic view of Kadykchan.

A nice little playground.

The city hall(top picture).

Football anyone?

I hope you liked this little tour of the city. Feel free to comment.

Reminds me of East Berlin – that was some serious bad craziness. Nice article :)
