Krimml Waterfall is formed from the glacial Krimmler Ache River as it flows down the Alps. The Krimmler Ache River is fed by some 23 glaciers.

Glacial flows are sporadic and subject to heat, so the Krimml Waterfalls flow best in the summer. Water from the falls eventually feeds the Danube River.

Tourists have been visiting the Krimml Waterfalls for centuries, and some 400,000 tourists visit the falls per year.

One can view the entire falls from the visitor center and and a steep but very well maintained path has safe viewpoints all along the falls.

Many people find the Krimml Waterfalls to be therapeutic and a great boon to one’s health and well being. The millions of negative air ions in the area stimulate the immune system and reduce susceptibility for those suffering from allergies and asthma.
