A Taste of Denmark: A Recipe for Frikadellers (Danish Meatballs)

This overview of Denmark – its geography, its culture, its people, and a recipe, too – was prepared by Sarah Tannehill while a Business Administration student in the College of Business at Southeastern Louisiana University.

Introduction
A 2006 survey said that Denmark is one of the happiest nations on earth. Denmark has over 400 hundred islands with a mix of sandy beaches and cliffs. Denmark is known worldwide for its dairy, livestock and commercial fishing industries. I chose to do my mother’s recipe for Frikadellers. It is a recipe for Danish meatballs that are mostly eaten in Denmark by children.

1. Denmark is located right above Germany, and it’s half the size of Maine. It’s population is about 5.5 million.
2. The capital of Denmark is Copenhagen.
3. 64% of Denmark is farmland.

1. Danish is the official language of Denmark, but English is widely spoken because it is required to be taken in public schools.
2. The national flag of Denmark is the oldest country flag in the world that is still in use.

1. Hans Christian Andersen, a Danish writer, wrote the fairy tail story the Little Mermaid, which later became a Walt Disney movie.
