Shakespeare and Company is the most photographed bookstore of the world and is located in Paris. Shakespeare and Company is a book store as well as reading library with a vast resource of English language literature and also provides a good platform to young writers who can earn by working in the shop by working few hours everyday and pursuing their writing career.

The original bookstore was closed during World War II and was owned by Sylvia Beach. The original bookstore got closed in December 1941.
George Whitman, an American opened the bookstore in Paris with the name “Le Mistral” which now is termed as Shakespeare and Company.
At present daughter of George Whitman’s daughter, Sylvia Whitman runs the shop by proving young writers a chance to pursue their interest as well as run the bookshop.
