A Berlin Germany Vacation

Want to familiarize yourself with German language, cultures or just see some of the sites Germany has to offer? Berlin has so much to offer that it would be impossible to see everything in one trip.

Being the capital of Germany, Berlin has so much to offer. You can visit any of Berlins 170 museums. You could also visit one of there 150 theaters. You could take a guided tour of Berlin on bicycle. But above all, this is the perfect place to go for College students that are studying the German language. Being around all of the German people, and attempting to understand them can be beneficial in helping you learn faster. If it is spring break at your College, then you should definitely visit Berlin Germany.

The best thing about going to Berlin would be the benefit of being around the German language. The Dutch language is very hard to learn. It is usually easier to learn how to speak it if you yourself hear how other people speak it. That way you can learn how you’re supposed to properly pronounce those difficult words. Since you’re a College student, you should already know the basic words, like “Ich,” standing simply for “I.” Going to Berlin will help you get the hang of those “hard to get” words, like “Weltteil,” meaning simply, “world.” The Dutch language is hard to get the hang of. Spending the time in Berlin could really pay off in the end. You’ll be speaking German chimes in no time.

An attraction that would be awesome to see in Berlin is the Zoologishcer Garten (Berlin Zoo), the first zoo in Berlin, opened in 1844. Here you will witness the oldest zoo in Germany featuring the world’s largest number of species. Aside from the awesome architecture found throughout the entire zoo, you can find that the Zoological Garden is now the most important animal collection in the world, with around 19,000 animals and some 1,400 different species. There is a beast of prey house, a hippo house and a nocturnal animal house, and also the largest aviary in Europe. The aquarium is one of the largest in the world and has the largest number of species than any other place in Europe. Biotopes have been created for sharks, piranhas, and also the fish of the coral reefs.

Another thing Berlin has to offer is the most famous and most popular museum, Pergamon Museum. This worldwide well-known ancient history museum contains many incredible artifacts, including the massive Altar of Zeus and the famed Ishtar Gate from Babylon. This museum is huge; it also has three major departments: the Collection of Classical Antiquities, which occupies the architectural halls and the sculpture wing. The Museum of the Ancient Near East and the Museum of Islamic Art. With features like these, this is one of the best places in Germany to see religious art.

After hearing all of that, I’m sure it sounds terrific to you now. But there are some problems with going to Berlin. The main reason people choose not to go, is the gas prices. True gas is above $6.00 there, but there are ways around that. What you need to do, is to not plan to drive. Take a taxi, or perhaps rent a bicycle, that way you save some money. Another thing is that there are far too many sites to see, and there is no possible way that you will have enough time to see them all. On the other hand, if you plan your trip carefully, you can visit all the most important sites in what time you have. And finally, another problem that may deter you from going on this trip is the fact that you may not be able to understand what everyone is saying. Hence it is a good place to go, to get used to hearing people speak like that, and so after awhile it won’t bother you at all. Then you’ll be the one teaching your friends how to speak it. So as you can see, Berlin is the place for you.

So, its spring break. What are you waiting for? Let’s go to Berlin. You should all be shouting, “Berlin! Berlin! Wir Fahren nach Berlin!” (”Berlin! Berlin! We’re going to Berlin!”). So pack your bags with a weeks worth of cloths, and get to Berlin. Be sure to visit the Pergamon Museum, since it is the greatest museum in Germany, and possibly the world. Also visit the Zoologishcer Garten, since it’s possibly the world’s largest zoo. It is by far Europe’s greatest zoo. Now get to Berlin, to witness all the great places that are awaiting you there.

Three little corrections regarding the language issue:
1. While related and quite similar, Dutch and German are two different languages.
2. “Weltteil” doesn’t mean “world”, but specifically “part of the world”.
It’s a compound of “Welt” (which indeed means world) and “Teil” (part).
