The Green Goose

Nightclub in Germany.
This is going to be a review about a little club in the heart of Nuremberg in Bavaria, Germany! I love this club, I went there for over 2 years and I met my husband there, so what else can I say?
Ok, First the Common Informations!
The Green Goose exist since 1984.
Times
open on Fridays from 9.00p.m till 5.00 a.m and saturdays from 9.00p.m till 5.00a.m!
Where is it?
The streets name is “Vordere Sterngasse”.
When you are at the main train station just walk out next to the Sparkasse and walk straight to the first street that goes right. Go right and then you can see the green door lights already!
If you come with a car parking is not a problem, because right across the street is a big “Parkhaus”, where you can leave your car all night, but it costs a little bit. But if you get lucky you can find a place to park around the building at no cost.
Prices
The prices are like in every other bar or disco in Nuremberg. A beer costs around 3 euro. And there is the happy hour where every shot cost 1 euro and this happy hour is mostly from 9.00 till midnight. And you will need 3 euro to get in, but from 3.00 a.m it is free! Sometimes there are special partys like the monster ball on Halloween with Go Go Girls and special prices for drinks! And befor I forget the Green Goose sells buckets with mix drinks for about 30 euros with 5 liters of fun in them!
Who Works There?
The bartender are very nice and like to talk to the people. It is hard to not give them a tip! The bouncer are doing a very good job, as soon as someone starts being loud and aggressive they kick him or her out! It is very rare to see a fight or argument in the club. Which make a very good atmosphere in the Green Goose!
What Kind of People Go There?
You can meet every kind of people there! From a goth to a rocker to a hip hopper, many American soldiers go there, but everybody just wants to have fun and make new friends. The Green Goose is one of the bars where you don’t have to be afraid to go there alone and sit on the bar for hours until someone talks to you! Most of the time it just takes about a half hour! And if you start talking to someone it is even faster! And don’t worry almost everybody speaks English! So everybody is welcome and if you go there often enough you will feel like a part of a party-family!
The Music
The music is like the people that go there every music style is played! Rock, Hip hop, Alternative, soft music! And if you have a special wish you can just go up to the DJ and ask him to play your song and most of the time he does it but sometimes he doesn’t get to it, but he will play it the next day or the next weekend!
Hygiene
To be honest it is not the cleanest club you will ever find, but it’s not worse than any other place I know. It starts around 3.00 that the floor gets a little sticky, because some people have a hard time holding their glass up right when they get drunk, but it happens to everybody once in a while! The toilettes are ok like I said it’s not worse than anywhere else. For the women: it is not so bad that you would have to stand up while you go pee so it is alright. But I’m sorry I can’t tell you anything about the mens bathroom! Never been in there!
What I Think
Ok I personally love this club, because I found my husband in there! And if you want to have a good time and find some new friends or just want o talk to new people this would be the right club for you! Oh and just because you think you are to old to go there, don’t worry there are some people that are older than 50 and you will see them there every weekend and they are as much fun as the younger people! So try it out you wont regret it! I promise!

Hey Denise,
I love this club as well. Most of the regulars are like family here. I’m friends with the bartenders, the bouncers, and most the drinkers. If you go to their website you’ll even see a few pics of me on the Go Go dancer’s pole. Its very friendly. Its like Cheers but in Germany.

I remember going to the Goose in Kitzingen back in 1989. My roomate Cascone was the Dj there, and he really rocked the joint. I got totally wasted there when I was promoted to spec-4 and I burned the hell out of my mouth on what i think was called a flaming Jesus. (drink that they lit on fire before they gave it to you). Believe it or not, I really miss thoese days.

I never got to the green goose in nuermberg but i did make it to the one in Wurzberg and those were some of the funnest times i have had in my life. i was stationed in kitzingen and there wasn’t much to do there. I did make it to a club in Nuermberg named Vibe and that was a good club too. I would love to go back and see how it’s like now.

Hey, does anyone remeber when the bouncers of The Green Goose used to carry mini-aluminum baseball bats. I do. I was stationed at Merrell Barracks from 83 to 86. The ultimate metal heads bar. I had many a fights in that bar. Knew one of the barmaids, she used to give 10 free shots of tequila every night. AWESOME memories.

The Green Goose in Ansbach was like my second home. I’m not sure, but I think Trish is still around, just too bad the Goose isn’t.
Remember all the drugs there, well guess what, last I checked the place was turned into a laboratory. No joke!

I visited 5 years ago, and could not believe it. The Clock and The Hershen were gone. The Green Goose was not there anymore either. Word has it that Dennis split on Trish, and The Goose took a dive !!!! Too bad, that was a happening bar. I was stationed @ Bleidorn Kasern from 86′ to 90′.

3/67 ADA then changed to 4/3 ADA. We all used to hit the Goose and the Bierbrunnen Kitzingen 87-89. Anyone remember the indoor pool that was under some apartment building in downtown Kitzingen? Todd Moore, Spec. Allen, Wizwald, LaPierre, Etzel, miss those guys.

I had the honor of going to two of the clubs. The one in Fulda and the other in Wurzberg (1991-1993). I can honestly say its one of the better clubs I have been to. It was the place to go to meet up with your friends and meet so of the local people at the same time. I was an M.P. back in those days. So everyone knew me and my friends. It was nice to walk in and have our own table all ready there waiting on us. Couldn’t think of a better place to go to have a good time.

I used to hit the Goose in Wurzburg every week-end, after it closed it reopened as the “Take-five”. The Goose in Kitzingen kinda sucked compared to the Goose in Wurzburg, Vilseck and Nuremberg. I was also in 3/67 ADA when it changed to 4/3 ADA. (88 – 97). There sure were some wild chicks in the Green Goose.

The Green Goose was my hang out from ‘89-91. I loved this little placed. Used to drink frogs, uzo, snd would get a bucket, or two with the boys.Had this brief fling with a French girl, she couldn’t speak english and I couldn’t speak french. To this day I don’t know how that happened. When all other clubs were lame we always ended up back at the goose. Its a must if it is still there!

Green Goose rocks, period!!! Still got my member card. Ansbach \’90-\’93 with the 501st MP. Ansbach is basically my second hometown and when the Goose was there it was like icing on a cake. I miss old Snoopy, Dave, Dennis and the rest. Some of the most memorable times in my life. Hope to visit again someday. Feel free to email me about old times at: jwa5044@yahoo.com. Goosers fur immer!

Wowwww, I was there when it opened in ‘84, (used to be called the Whiskey A Go Go, (off limits to GI’s) still got my Goose Card. I was stationed at Merrell 1979 to 1991. 116th Ord/45th Ord Co. I went back last year but thought I was too old to hang out with the young folk, so I didn’t go in. Maybe when I go next year I’ll have the Balls to stop in to reminise
Grrrrrreat memories.
Oh, yeah, my wife is from Nurnberg as well.

I was stationed in Schweinfurt. Got a “Euro Out” and spent 6 months in Ansbach working at the Goose. Me an a Turkish dude ran the place. Once in a blue the owner (Jimmy the Greek) and his partner – some big native american dude – would show up in their Mercedes for a visit. I actually lived in the back room. I haven’t thought about that place for ages. I’d been to the Goose in Schweinfurt, W’burg. Friggin’ bucket o’ blood. The dudes in Schweinfurt would beat the snot out of anybody, drag ‘em outside and leave them bleeding on the sidewalk. Nice touch! Still miss the biers and insanity.

Wow, flashback!!
I was at katterbach 90-92. Frequented both nuremberg and ansbach. I remember snoopy and trish.
We walked in 1 night and all ordered cokes. First thing trish said was”guys wheres the bottle?” Buckets were great. As well as playing around the world at the bar, try to drink a shot from each bottle hanging behind the bar.
Great times. Let me know if you were there then.

Ah memories! I was stationed in Fulda 1992-1993. (HHT 1/11 and BTrp.) I was at the Goose every weekend with my buds Jimmy, Mark, and John. Ever since that time I don’t think I have ever drank that much in my whole life. I still fondly remember those days. I still have my membership card too. I wonder if they would let me back in with it?

Kitzigen, Larson Barracks, Delta 3-67, ‘85-’88. Hey–does anyone remember that Wet T-Shirt contest at the Green Goose in Kitzigen? It must have been in ‘87 or ‘88. I don’t think I’ve ever been in a more comical situation. Advertised for weeks–a hundred or so drunk GI’s ready for a good ‘ole American Wet T-Shirt Contest and these German waitresses wanted no part of it. . . lol! The bar was on verge of a riot when the gals finally decided to play ball. It was literally a beer bath in that place–I mean soaked! I would not trade that memory for anything. God Bless!

Ah yes. The Green Goose in Wurzburg, it was my regular haunt between 88 and 90. My buddies (M. Greenup, S. Griffith, L. Spencer, Sneller to name a few) and I drove up from Giebelstadt every other weekend. If it wasn’t the Goose, we’d hit the Rock Palast. Good times. Too bad neither the Green Goose nor Rock Palast are in Wurzburg any more. I Co. 3rd AVN REGT.
