BLACKPOOL on Lancashire’s Irish Sea coastline has many attractions. There are Blackpool Tower, the Golden Mile and the magnificent long golden sands. Blackpool Zoo is yet another of these attractions that is really worth a visit.

The award winning Blackpool Zoo, which stands in 32 acres of rapidly maturing parkland and lakes is home to over 1,500 beautiful, rare and exotic animals that live in countries fro across the entire globe.

Blackpool Zoo has gorillas, orang-utans and literally hundreds of other monkeys. There are the big cats, including lions and tigers. It has zebras, camels, red pandas, kangaroos, sea lions, the most fantastic collection of reptiles plus all the other animal favourites.

One set of the most popular attractions are Katie, Crumble, Marcella. The foursome of magnificent Asian Elephants.

Visitors can come and enjoy an entire day of unique close-up animal encounters, including the handling of some of the creepiest crawlies in the world.

They can have a rip-roaring good time at the feeding sessions for the lions and tigers are watch the sea lions making a huge splash during their feeding time. Another attraction are the amazing trio of gorillas when they are at home on their island in the lake.

Blackpool Zoo recently opened a fantastic dinosaur attraction, where visitors can venture on a journey of discovery through the Dinosaur Safari Park. This expedition will leave them amazed by the world of spectacular creatures from long before the time when man first evolved on this planet.

The animals are not the only attraction at Blackpool Zoo. Visitors can take a trip on the miniature railway or leave the children in the Run Wild Play Area.

Blackpool Zoo has a family café, kiosks and a number of picnic areas. There is a gift shop with an extensive range of souvenirs.

It claims to be Blackpool’s Best Value Day Out and offers a great deal of fun for the children.

There are a number of different feeding sessions for the animals and other displays throughout the day and special events are staged all the year round.

It is open from 10:00 each day throughout the year with the exception of Christmas Day and tickets allow for re-entry all day long. Special schools and other group discounts are available and can be checked on 01253 830805.

Blackpool Zoo has free car parking and is very easy to find. It is only two miles from the sea front and about five minutes drive from Junction 4 on the M55. A seasonal bus service runs to the Zoo from outside the Pricebusters branch, next to Blackpool Tower
