The Many Attractions of the Antrim Glens

A guide to the Antrim Glens of Northern Ireland.

Many millions of people travel around the world each day taking in the world each day taking in the many wonderful experiences of exotic foods, scenery and culture.often visiting places that are famously known.

I myself like to captivate my surroundings and enjoy all the events not just the main attractions. I like to explore the history, culture and foods of my own country before i sample another that’s why i would highly recommend visiting Northern Ireland.

There are many places of intrest across the province starting in the glens of antrim there is much to do whatever your taste.

BUSH MILLS DISTILLERY

Bushmills is home to the legendary Irish whiskey, Here you can take the tour and see how the whiskeys are distilled, discover the secrets behind the magic.

BALLYCASTLE

Ballycastle is a small fishing village with beautiful views over the north sea.

August holds the Lam mas fair which is a must for the whole family, There is everything from market stalls to themed rides also sample the famous yellow man a sweet candy.

There is alot of history surrounding Ballycastle from old ruins to myths and legends.

RATHLIN ISLAND

From Ballycastletake a 10 minute ferry ride over to this small island with  its captivating views, experience the wildlife up close with many puffins and sea-lions.

Why not take the tour of the island by puffin bus or spend awhile in the hotel you will have a warm welcome but beware to be told about the Banshee who’s storeys have been told on the island for hundreds of years.

GIANTS CAUSEWAY/ CARRICKAREDE ROPE BRIDGE

Giants causeway is a must it is the 8Th wonder of the world it consists of 40,000 polygonal basalt columns, There is a visitors centre where you may discover the legends.

Carrickarede rope bridge is open from March- September thisis not for the faint hearted withan 80ft downwards view, This is breath taking and would be highly recommend

CASTLES OF ANTRIM

There is much history surrounding the Antrim coast why not experience this by visiting a castle.

Dunluce castle built in about 7000BC

Kilbane castle built in 1547.

PORTRUSH

There is much to do in Portrush from April- August there is Barry’s amusement park with rides for all the family.

The small town has many amusement arcades, cafes- restaurants and gift shops where you can sample some of the culture.

There is breath taking views along the coastline great for walkers or why not pick up a bucket and spade for the children and play the day away on one of the two beaches.

May also hosts the north west 200 great for those who like motor racing.

August hosts the annual pipe band championships.

While September hosts the international airshow.

Early booking for accommodation is advised.
