Information about Malta.

Malta is a small country around 100km south of Sicily (Italy). It is made up of three islands and has a temperate climate. Its capital is Valletta and its main languages are Maltese and English.

Malta was once owned by the English and that is the only reason it has English as one of its main languages. Malta became a republic in 1964 and is now called The Republic of Malta.

Malta is 316km2 and is made up of three islands: Malta, Gozo and Kemmuna. It also has many other islands so tiny the people of Malta don’t give them names. It has a coastline of 197 km and its heist point is Ta’ Dmejrek at 239 m.

Malta’s main exports are: grapes, milk, onions, potatoes and tomatoes. Because it is so isolated, Malta has to import most of its food and goods.

Malta has many fine restaurants and has a very interesting history.
