The Beach Lover’s Guide to Portugal

The southern Portugal beaches of the Algarve, which cover 200 miles of coastline from Sagres on the western tip to Vila Real San Antonio at the Spanish border, are really a beach lover’s paradise. And Portugal also boasts some absolutely wonderful beaches along its western Atlantic coast. Lisbon has two marvellous beaches, Estoril and Caiscais, both of them succeed in attracting international celebrities.

There are many exclusive luxury resorts along the Algarve coast of Portugal with absolutely beautiful villas; this is mainly because of the large number of very excellent championship golf courses that Portugal has developed over the years.

So, if you are a beach lover and a keen golfer these wonderful locations will be just right for you. Quinta da Largo, Vale da Lobo, Vilamoura and Portimao.

But for those beach lovers that are looking for the more tranquil pace of life with long stretching golden sand beaches and incredibly spectacular scenery there are even more wonderful beaches in Portugal just waiting for you.

From west to east along the Algarve coast of Portugal, such beaches are Lagos, with its caves and water pools, Praia da Rocha, with its cliffs and rock formations, Fuseta, with its lagoons and Tavira Island that can only be reached by a small boat trip from the mainland.

The beaches along the Atlantic coastline of Portugal fall into two distinct categories. There are the beaches which offer tranquillity and there are the beaches which offer entertainment.

You will discover numerous isolated, secluded beaches that are just relatively unexplored except by local village people and fishermen.

If this is your idea of beach paradise then you will love these beaches for their quietness and for the opportunity to walk and explore without a thought in your mind about other tourists ever disturbing your peace.

But if you are looking for entertainment with your beach enjoyment then the beach at Caiscais is great for music lovers with jazz concerts that are attended by famous international stars.

And Lisbon’s Estoril beach is Portugal’s equivalent of Monte Carlo with its own huge luxury Casino and wonderful exclusive restaurants, which have cuisine from all around the world.

Oh yes, if you are a beach lover you will surely discover your paradise at any of the beaches that Portugal has on offer.

And they are all just a flight and car ride away from providing you with some amazingly exceptional memories of your visit to Portugal.
