Pyrenees: Nature’s Gift

Call it Eden or heaven or what ever you like. Pyrenees is a kaleidoscope of life, a perfect blend of the living and the non-living and paradise for adventure seekers and lovers.

The Pyrenees are mountain range that border between France and Spain. They are 430 Km long, and extend the whole way across the top of Iberians peninsula from the Bay of Biscay to the Mediterranean Sea. There are only a few passes through these mountains, which are difficult to cross. The range s highest at the center, with two snow capped peaks that extend to a height of about 3,300 m. The tiny country of Andorra within the Pyrenees.

Hydro-electric power is produced from steam of the mountains, and forests of oak and evergreen trees provide timber needs. Diary cattle, goat, and sheep graze in the valleys and the hill pastures. On the French side farmers grow olives, grapes for wine, grain and fruit. On the other side, there are several resorts and spas. The Roman Catholic shrine of the Lourdes is visited by thousand of pilgrims each year. Many Basques, who have their own language, live in the western Pyrenees.
The Pyrenees are one of the oldest mountain ranges in the Europe, being developed about 100 million years ago. There are many attraction in Pyrenees, most important of which is
The large number of mountainous torrents that are commonly called gaves, they form many scenic and beautiful waterfalls. Pyrenees has a lot of ski resorts, notable among them is Alps 2500, Vall de Núria etc that provide excellent entertainment and thrilling adventures.

Its romantic atmosphere, lush and thriving flora and fauna and an air of adventure and mystery has long been in the tale of many travelers and poets who have been blessed with such splendid sight. The Great Pyrenean Ranges hold an amazing view of not only physical but spiritual beauty. All one has to do is to sit and get lost in the silent wind, cool sun and unlined aura of nature’s creation unmindful of time and space until slowly it lets you become one with itself.

I have never heard of this place. Now I know about it. Thanks for teaching me about it. We learn something new every day no matter how old we are. I can see why people would like to visit, it looks so peaceful and beautiful.
