The Seven Wonders of Romania

You taught Romania is a profaned place. I say different. Romania is a beautiful place. Here are the seven most beautiful places to view in Romania.

1) The Endless Column

It’s made in 1934 by Constantin Brancusi. It is made for Romania’s heroes from the first world war. He loved his country and wanted to make something for it. Brancusi had always wanted to make monuments for his country.

It is made at Targu-Jiu and represents the endless glory of Romania’s heroes. It is so called because from the bottom it appears to be endless. It’s made of wood and contains 16 peaces.

Romania entered after two years from the moment the first war began. Many heroes died to stop Russia and Germany from taking territory. In that time Romania was Kingdom and it’s king was Carol IV. After the war Romania received Transylvania as a reward for its loss. Time passed and one day Brancusi tough to build The Endless Column.

2)Parliament’s Palace

The biggest construction of the East Europe.It has 12 levels and 9 levels underground.It’s the second administrative building as volume in the world.

It’s made of marble , cement (5.500 tones), steel(7.000 tones), sand(20.000 tones), basalt(1.000 tones), etc.

After big earthquake Bucharest City was half destroyed. Ceausescu(the last Romania’s communist president) ordered to “rebuild” Bucharest. He put some architects to make a project for his home. He destroyed even more buildings (a half of it in that time). It was ready in 1979, 10 years before the communism was vanquished in Romania.

3)The happy graveyard

The happy graveyard is located in Sapanta. It is famous for its crosses. On each cross it’s a poetry that(it’s funny) presents the life of it’s owner:

“Yesterday I was hit by a car

And I knew I had to die…”

The poetry is sculpted in the cross. In 1935 The first one was sculpted by Ioan Patras. In 1960 was populated by approximately 800 dead people. No one knows exactly why they are this way.

4)The Voronet Monastery

It’s famous because of its colour(the Voronet blue) who can’t be remade and because it’s painted on the outside(and in the inside). It was made by Stefan the Grate foundered it to commemorate the victory at Battle of Vaslui.

It’s located at Gura Humorului, a place in Moldova.

After each victory Stefan the Grate was shutting the sky with an arrow. In the place the arrow was falling there he was founding a church. He founded number of 40 churches.

5)The Caraiman Cross

It’s placed at 2,303 meters in Bucegi. It was finished in 1928 in the order of Queen Maria. At night It’s lit by bulbs. Its height is 29.5 meters and it’s arms leg is 14 meters.

The bulbs are installed in 1935 and every night is lighting with a power of 500W each bulb.

The path to it is dangerous and can only be made at summer.

6)Danube Delta

Yes, Danube Delta is in Romania. It is a wonderful natural palace with a number of 150 species of birds and 1000 species of fishes. It has 3 arms: Chilia, Sulina and Saint George. Annual temperature is 11°C and it has 2500 hours of sunshine/ year.

In the Danube Delta are lily flowers. There are two types of lily flowers: white and yellow(the yellow ones are law protected). Beautiful views are made by this flowers and the surroundings.

7)The Santa Ana Lake

The Santa Ana Lake is the only one volcanic lake in Romania. It’s placed in the Ciomatu Mare Mountain and it’s beautiful and unique. It’s placed in a silente forest and it’s surrounded by mountains. Inside the lake are volcanic rocks who can hurt you if you’re not prepared.

It’s at a 946 meters altitude.

It’s said a girl named Ana jumped on this lake on her wedding day and her corpse wasn’t found, yet. It’s said the lake took girl’s name.
