Living and Working in Spain

The weather here has always been one of the biggest factors people take into consideration when moving to Spain and with the climate change, it has been just as noticble over here. For instance whilst the UK is getting wetter and warmer, Spain had its coldest winter last year in over 65 years.
I have lived here for years and I have seen so many ex pats returning to the UK. Jobs have always been scarce here but now the recession has hit hard. The main work ex pats did here was work in the rental/sales property market and run bars. With not much tourism and not as many people coming over from the UK the job market has been hit hard. However they are finding it just as difficult to get work on their return home and many are left between Spain and the UK and do not feel they fit in anywhere.
The weather here has always been one of the biggest factors people take into consideration when moving to Spain and with the climate change, it has been just as noticeable over here. For instance whilst the UK is getting wetter and warmer, Spain had its coldest winter last year in over 65 years and is now having
one of the hottest Octobers in years. The property market had dropped and if you think you may consider living in Spain in the future and you have a little money put away then without a doubt now is a good time to invest. Property and rentals are coming down in price and where once you would have paid a typical rental price of 700 euros per month for a 2 bed apt on the Costa Del sol, you will now find that you can pick these up for as little as 500 euros per month.
If you smoke however you may be disappointed to find that prices have increased dramatically here, and you will now pay approx £3.50 per pack as opposed to only last year the same being about £2.20 per pack. The weird thing about being a smoker in Spain as opposed to the UK is this: In the UK you can purchase your cigarettes from supermarkets/bars/shops/garages etc….. but you are unable to smoke anywhere. Here is Spain you can smoke anywhere, IE bars/restaurant’s/inside and out, but can only buy your cigs from certain venues called tobacconists and never in supermarkets, shops or garages.
If you are living in Spain and thinking of returning to the UK please remember its tough over there also for jobs at the moment, however as we all know if you don’t work here in Spain you don’t eat, at least in the UK its doubtful you will be left without a penny or a home. One option you do have is to be self employed and if this appeals to you and you would like to work from home then visit http://studyholistics.com
