The Greenwich Meridian Arch

Description of the Greenwich meridian arch. The beauty of the pure lines.

Source: Wikipedia.
One of the milestones on the way from Saragossa to Barcelona along the northwest motorway. One a half kilometres before reaching the arch there are already signs warning you about the cross from the western to the eastern hemisphere or the other way round. The closest villages to the Greenwich meridian arch are Candasnos and Peñalba. Depending on the light, weather conditions and the time of the day and night, this wide and low arch offers your the beauty of pure lines and simple shapes. The empty steppe landscape looks almost the same on both sides of the arch but still driving under it gives you the impression of crossing a border even at night when there aren’t any visual references.
The arch is not completely perpendicular to the motorway, but orientated to the north-south axis. On Google Earth it is not very clear as it is in an area with a very low population density. Anyway, there are many photographs taken at any time of the day, at night and even under the snow.
