No matter what time of the year, Edinburgh has alot to offer. Traveling alone, or as a couple or even a family break, Edinburgh can provide you with a exciting and memorable visit.

Thinking about taking a city break? Then visit Edinburgh for an exciting and memorable experience. No matters what interests, needs or desires you have, Edinburgh comes up with the goods every time.

There are the obvious must see attractions such as the castle, the dungeons, walking up the most two popular roads of Princess Street and The Royal Mile with rambling steep narrow alley ways leading off. And there is the explorers attractions, attractions you can find you more you explore.

If you like history or ghosts, a great attraction that I came across is called The real Mary King Close, I had heard about it previous to my visit and put it on my “to visit” list. The advertising is very limited on this place, in fact so limited you could easily pass it by.  Only a bill board placed directly outside this place is the first indication that it is there.

It is basically old Edinburgh from the 16thcentury, hundreds of years worth of streets, rooms and passageways, hidden 60 ft under The Royal. You take a conducted tour which lasts about an hour and a half, lead by a costumed guide who is informative and very entertaining.

As you enter the small, dark, cramped dusty rooms you can almost taste the living conditions endured by the people that once live and died there. The plague wiped out most of the inhabitants, rendering their final days incarcerated in what must of felt like a living tomb.

As you can imagaine, not only is this place steeped with history, it also has it’s fair share ghost stories which become a little more than stories once enter the depths of this well kept Scottish secret, called Mary King Close.
