A review of Eslington Villa Hotel and Restaurant.
ESLINGTON Villa Hotel and Restaurant in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear is a restaurant that is tucked away in leafy haven. It serves modern British cuisine with a number of Mediterranean touches.
The decor is a reduced Scottish Baronial style, thought the background music leaves a lot to be desired. It offers a friendly welcome in its busy lounge and the serving team are genial and well-paced.
One extremely popular starter is basil spaghetti: herby pasta in a light pest sauce with a salad of rocket and roasted vine tomatoes. The chicken and ham terrine with a topping of red onion marmalade and salad leaves is equally good.
I enjoyed the tournedos of salmon with buttery asparagus and waxy potatoes. My partner was equally impresses by her rump of lamb with fondant potato, minted peas and a rich caramelised sauce.
The tutti-frutti mousse with fresh raspberries was impressive as was the praline crepe with orange salad, vanilla ice cream and pistachio nuts.
Eslington Villa Hotel and Restaurant is open from noon to 14:00 and 19:00 to 22:00 on Monday to Friday and noon to 15:00 and 19:00 to 22:00 on Sunday.
There are two decent sized car parks in the grounds and Eslington Villa is fully accessible for disabled diners.
